Dr. E. Sandy Calloway
Professor of Music NASM Institutional Representative - Fine Arts
Sandy Calloway has taught at Young Harris College since 2006. He served as Chair of the Department of Music for eleven years and currently teaches applied voice, music theory, aural skills, diction, and vocal literature. In over 40 years of college teaching, Dr. Calloway also has directed choirs, taught music appreciation, music history, history of musical theatre, music technology, and has been the music director for 20 musical theater productions.
Dr. Calloway has performed as a vocal soloist in fifteen oratorios, as well as being a featured soloist with the Toccoa Symphony, the Northwinds Symphonic Band, the Gainesville Chorale, and the Lanier Singers of Gainesville, GA. Operatic and musical theatre roles include Il Commendatore in Don Giovanni, Angelotti in Tosca, Marcello in La Bohème, El Dancaїro in Carmen, Falke in Die Fledermaus, Hucklebee in The Fantasticks, Archibald in The Secret Garden, and Alfred Doolittle in My Fair Lady.
Dr. Calloway has been active for over 30 years in the Georgia Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing where he has served as treasurer, recording secretary, and repertoire consultant. He also is an active member of St. Clare’s Episcopal Church in Blairsville, GA, where he is a member of the Chancel Choir, has served on the Vestry, and serves as a lector.
